  • Gates Millennium Scholars-deadline January--students who are African American, Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American that have a GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Students must meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Apply online http://www.gmsp.org/
  • Jackson State University W.E.B. Du Bois Honors College - Deadline February 15 and must have a minimum ACT score of 21/SAT 1000 combined with a strong "B" average
  • Lucky Day Opportunity Scholarship - Deadline February 1 and must enroll as a freshman, meet Mississippi residency requiremnets, score 20 or higher on teh ACT, have a GPA of 3.2 or highter, have financial need, and apply online at http://www.olemiss.edu/student_life/luckyday

  • John C. Stennis Scholarships in Political Science - Mississippi State University - Deadline February 28 and must be a resident of Mississippi, have a high school average of "B" or higher, must be of good character, and must be interested in becoming active in public affairs. http://www.msstate.edu/dept/politicalscience/org/stenapply.html
  • USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships - Deadline February 15. Family annual income of $35,000 or less and can be applied for online starting December 15 at http://www.usafunds.org/scholarship
  • FAFSA for Pell Grant and other federal money. Starting January 2009 - The easiest way to apply is to do so online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ You and your parent should apply for a PIN number. the PIN number will serve as your signature.
  • To apply for MTAG (Mississipp Tuition Assistance Grant) or MESG (Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant) go to http://www.ihl.state.ms.us/financialaid Starting January 2009. For MTAG you must be a Mississippi resident, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and ACT score of at least 15. For MESG you must be a resident of Mississippi, have a minimum GPA 3.5 and ACT score of at least 29
  • Champions for Children offers scholarships to high school seniors across the State of Mississippi who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of young people through mentoring. In addition to mentoring at least 100 hours during their senior year of high school, applicants must submit a completed application, including an essay about their mentoring experience. http://www.msmentoring.org/
  • Toyota Community Scholars are recognized for their academic excellence, leadership and commitment to community service. Every year, Toyota awards 100 college scholarships – valued at $10,000 and $20,000 – over the course of four years, to remarkable high school seniors.   • The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is about you, your dreams and aspirations, and the perseverance to succeed. This program is offered to high school seniors planning to attend a public in-state college or university. Students who meet the criteria may apply online to become a KFC’s Colonel’s Scholar.   • Deltapine - My future in Cotton - Deadline December 07, 2009 - Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.0 scale, plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate accredited two- or four-year college or university with the intent to engage in a course of study related to agriculture or agribusiness, and must live in a cotton-producing state and be directly involved with cotton production.
